“We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (from Romans 5:3-5)

And for many of us, there have been seasons of pain or suffering. The verses above have run through my mind countless times over the last five years in our own season of stretching and struggle, and they have brought LIFE. I love the forward nature of the words, the journey to truly understanding and grasping what suffering for Christ’s sake will lead to. Because of God’s great love poured out on His children, hope will not put us to shame.

If we are praying and listening, we’ll find we each have our own costly calls to obedience. What a gift that we don't have to carry them alone.

He gives his strength in our weakness, enabling us to move forward with beautiful ENDURANCE.

All my art has its roots in this theme of light piercing the darkness, joy in suffering, beauty for ashes. This landscape especially seeks to capture a bit of that light.
